A Life in Silk: The Founder Cultivating Skincare with Intention
Beneath Melbourne’s spring light, Taylor Battistella is shaping a skincare ritual born from nature, rarity, and reverence.
For centuries, silk has whispered of luxury—its luminous sheen, its softness remembered on the skin. But for Taylor Battistella, founder of Seresilk, silk is more than a fabric. It is a story passed from hand to hand, cocoon to skin. A rhythm. A ritual.
Raised among mulberry leaves and silkworms since the age of twelve, Battistella speaks of silk not as a material, but as a way of being.
“Silk doesn’t shout,” he says quietly. “It’s gentle. Precise. It gives its whole life to the process. I wanted to honour that.”
Launched in 2023 after years of quiet formulation, Seresilk is his tribute to that process—a skincare line rooted in purity, restraint, and the transformative power of silk’s natural proteins.
“What drew me in was how seamlessly silk works with the skin,” Battistella shares. “It nourishes, protects, soothes. But more than that, it invites us into stillness.”
From the Garden to Milan—and Back Again
Battistella’s journey began in suburban Melbourne, supplying silkworms to schools. But it was in Milan, immersed in the traditions of Italian craftsmanship, that the philosophy of Seresilk began to crystallise.
“Luxury, I learned, isn’t loud,” he reflects. “It’s intentional. Timeless. Made with care, not haste.”
Seresilk embodies this ethos—each formula minimal, each touchpoint considered, each product a quiet invitation to reconnect with one’s skin and self.
A Moment of Connection
When Seresilk debuted at the Beauty Expo Australia, it wasn’t just the formulations that captured attention—it was the story. Live silkworms, gently showcased, created a pause in the noise. A moment of wonder.
“People began to see,” Battistella says, “that behind every jar is a rhythm of care—a whole life, cocooned, then transformed.”
What Sets Seresilk Apart
While the beauty world moves fast, Seresilk moves deliberately.
“It’s not just about what’s inside the jar,” Battistella explains. “It’s about the feeling when you hold it, the calm in each application, the knowledge that nothing was rushed.”
Every product is designed to feel rare—because it is. One cocoon. One harvest. One story.
A Ritual Worth Returning To
Even as he leads Seresilk’s quiet innovation, Taylor remains grounded by the simplicity of daily practice and the support of family and friends. “Crafting each formula reminds me that true well-being comes from intention and consistency,” he reflects. In every phase—from selecting the purest silk to final formulation—Taylor honours the belief that ritual transforms routine into a moment of calm and care.
“When you return to the ritual, you reconnect with yourself,” he says. “That sense of calm—that’s what I wanted every Seresilk product to offer.”
On What Matters Most
“If Seresilk can help someone feel beautiful in their skin, then it’s done its work,” he says. “It’s not about trends—it’s about trust, craft, and care.”
