A Founder's Perspective: The Importance of Simple Skincare

My name is Taylor Battistella, and I am the Founder of Seresilk. As a teenager, I had shocking skin. At the same time, my skin was extremely sensitive; so everything I put on my face would leave my face burning, red and blistered. This was at the forefront of my mind when developing Seresilk.

Over the years I have learnt quite a lot about silk, having started my first business Everything Silkworms at 12 years of age, growing it to supply 1000's of schools and 10,000+ retail customers Australia-wide.

Equipped with the knowledge that the women working on Chinese silk farms are famous for having "the softest hands in the world" and wanting to understand why, I discovered that silk proteins possessed a high number of amino acids.

Discovering that these amino acids help stimulate collagen production and that the silk itself enhances moisturise-retention, reduces trans-epidermal water loss, helping improve the overall active substance stabilisation of formulations, it seemed like something I needed to explore further. Being trapped in Italy for 1.5 years during worldwide COVID lockdowns provided the perfect opportunity to do this...

Desperate to find a formulation that would support my skin barrier, but also deliver super-charged nourishment like every other formulation in the world, Seresilk was born. After over 2.5 years of development, the Seresilk routine is available now and boasts simple formulations that use only 24 ingredients across our comprehensive 4-step night-time routine.
